Good to see three of my bibles in the display Simon. That is an unusual Dekho! you have there. I've not seen a Scottish Reunion programme before.

I think that the early Dekhos are fairly scarce particularly the Scottish ones but sadly, and for obvious reasons, more are becoming available as houses are cleared.

Beyond the Chindwin was the first book that I read on the Chindit campaign over 30 years ago and it inspired me to visit Burma back in the mid 1980s. I of course couldn't get to any of the places mentioned in the book as only a small part of Burma was open to tourists at the time.

I have a fair collection of Dekhos, most of the 1970's, 80's and 90's plus the more recent A4 size magazines. I never knew there were Scottish editions available.

Beyond the Chindwin was my first too, this was before I knew that granddad was a member of Column 5 in 1943.

Kenneth Job Griffin was my grandfather on my mother's side. He was indeed born in Malaysia where his father worked on the railways. He was the second of four children (one surviving brother) and I believe that he ended the war as a major. He was a fine man but was always reluctant to talk about his war experiences.

By coincidence, I spotted this page from a booklet on line. I am ashamed to say I borrowed it (cough) for my records.

    Waenfach,

welcome to the forum. Thank you for the update regarding your grandfather. Do you have a photograph of him that you could copy and upload onto this thread, or, if you prefer not to have it on the forum, that you could let me have for my research? It would be appreciated.

    Simon.
