    Evening all,

Todays investigation involves my grandad and his brother, who met up whilst on service somewhere in North Africa I believe.

My grandad is on the left (Phantom, with corporal stripes as service strips I think), however I could do with some assistance with his brother on the right.

Always told that he was RAF, however his uniform is a bit confusing.

To me, it looks like he has an LAC patch on his left arm but the lack of other RAF insignia surprised me. Also both look to be khaki, not a distinct colour diff?

When the RAF moved to field operations it adopted khaki for the Servicing Commandos in North Africa and this then continued with TAF in northern France.

What units does his service record show?

    Wow fast, thanks!

Ok, hadn't factored his hand covering the eagle if it's stitched higher up, the other pics are square on, so looks like no badges at all.

    Thanks!

I don't have his service records, we've fallen out of touch with his kids since he died, will look into either getting back in touch or sending them off.

However it wouldn't surprise me if he volunteered for something different, considering my grandad had volunteered for Phantom earlier in the war
