Sorry i hope that i have posted in the correct place. A friend of mine wants to know if anybody knows what would have been written on an original RAF station book / form 540. Reason being he is having the RAF Eastchurch station book re-made for them and I would like to try and get it as close as possible. thanks for any help you can give...
He can see the original - word for word at The National Archives Search results: eastchurch | The National Archives Ross
sorry i should have said was what would have been written on the front outside cover of an original RAF station book / form 540 and how would it of been set out .
540 was a loose leaf double sided form. During wartime it was not given a cover - this was only done for AHB preservation post war. As a Secret Document the Station HQ file copies would have been held along with the other Confidential Books under a Secret wrapper. Thank you Ross, but do you not have an image for this? obviously the reason i am asking for my friend is that he does not have a computer or no how to use one.
The orb does not need a computer or knowledge of computer to look at. It is available at TNA for all to see in person as per my previous
The AHB bound ORBs typically have a plain dark blue bookcloth hard binding with a dark red/bugandy leather label on the spine, with goldleaf title. The endpapers a sort of plain buff colour. The binding makes copying them damned hard work.
