Does anyone have got more details on the Bremen raid of 10 February 1942 or the Le Havre raid of 14 February 1942. The Bomber Command Campaign Diary only mentions the following:

    10/11 February 1942
    Bremen
    55 aircraft. No losses.

    13/14 February 1942
    Cologne, Aachen, Le Havre
85 aircraft to these targets - 39 to Cologne, 28 to Le Havre, 18 to Aachen - but all encountered icing and thick cloud and only meagre bombing results were claimed. There were no losses.

Can somebody tell me the exact targets of the raids? Or some other details?

    Many thanks in advance!

One would need to know the Squadrons involved-not an easy task. Then one would have to obtain the Squadrons ORBs for the days in question an even more difficult task. Only then would one be able to find out the exact targets. QUITE A TASK YOU MUST AGREE. So sorry old chap.

Well, I do know 142 Squadron was involved in both raids. But the 142 Sqdr ORB does not maintain any info about the targets. Only the number of planes and the cities..

The dates of the raid on Le Havre is the period before the raid on Bruneval (operation Biting). So there were raids in Nothern France by bombers for made a diversion to covered the paratroops raid some days after. Maybe it was that ?

58 Squadron were involved in the raid on Aachen. My grandfather was a wireless op on it and the ORB entry for his aircraft reads:

"Attacked primary on ETA and glow of fire through cloud, at 0419 from 18,000 feet. No results observed. 10/10 cloud. Returned to base"

Another aircraft reported the temperature was minus 32 degrees centigrade at 15,000 feet!

I know that's not the raid you wanted info. on but thought you might be interested nevertheless.
