Have a mystery on my hands. I have inherited my cousins medals but there is one missing, when I cross referenced them to his Ribbon bar - its a Military Medal.

This was typical of Joe, he was proud to have been there and loved the people but did not like a fuss.He was in the RAF so how did he gain the MM, I know he was lost behind the lines for over a month and his job was recovering crashed aircraft.

I cannot write to the RAF records as I am not next of kin - his daughter is unwilling to help.

i tried the London gazzette but nothing came up. he must have won it during his time when he was lost.

But many RAF bods won the MM, even a WAAF!

same rules for the RAF as for the army
