Thought this site might be of interest to those with a flying bias. This site lists those who "failed to return".and are buried in Holland. Squadrons listed and photo's of graves etc. RUSTHOF
This is a really nice site. The gent who created it passed away a few years ago, I believe. Amersfoort is a beautiful cemetery. This site only lists the Commonwealth graves, however. Amersfoort is also home to a 800+ Russian cemetery and dozens of Italians, Romanians, Greek, Yugoslavs, Czechs, Dutch, etc. who died in German PoW camps. After the war their bodies were recovered by US Grave registration units and buried at Margraten. When Margraten became solely American, the commonwealth War graves were moved to Nederweert War Cemetery, the Germans to IJsselsteijn and the other nationalities ended up mostly at Amersfoort.
Hi everyone, I have just registered on this site as I am searching for the whereabouts of my great uncle who died in Holland during WW11 His name is Ian Ince and according to my grandmother he was a navigator aboard a plane which was shot down over Holland. I am only in Holland for a few more days so would appreciate speedy replies if possible. Cheers, Renee

Thanks to all of you for your help in getting this information about my great uncle, Ian MacPherson Ince. My grandmother was Ian's sister and even though she is gone too I know she would like me to visit where he is. My next challenge is going to be how to get from Holten train station to the cemetery, here's hoping there's a taxi service.
Just want to say how impressive you guys have been, typical of the bulk of forumites here. What wonderful service and details, down to driving instructions and photos. Brilliant work and I salute you all, it makes me proud to be a part of the knowledge base here (although what I have fades into insignificance besides yours!)
Hi Renee, Yes indeed you go into some kind of holiday camp then onto a sand road which leads to the cemetery.. Once your past the camp and on the sand road turn left at the T Juntion and the cemetery is down on the left...Good luck with the cab Cheers Tom
