Details extracted from Googling:- HK569 (AA-Q) was one of seven 75 Squadron Lancasters lost on this operation. See ME752; ND752; ND800; ND915; PA967; ME691. Airborne 2238 20 Jul 44 from Mepal. Crashed 0125 21 Jul 44 into the Maas near Kessel (Limburg), 9 km SSW of Venlo, Holland. Of those killed, F/S Hiscox is buried in Beesel Roman Catholic cemetery, (the only CWGC grave) but the others are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. F/S N.D. Davidson RNZAF KIA Sgt R.G.Sloman KIA Sgt A.E.J.Goddard KIA Sgt T.G.Little PoW Sgt D.Corris KIA Sgt R.S.Lang KIA F/S H.J.Hiscox KIA Sgt T.G.Little was interned in Camp L7, PoW No.52469. From these stark details it appears that there was only time for the tail gunner (Hiscox) and Sgt Little to bale out. By the time F/S Hiscox had rotated his turret to get out, it seems it was too low for his parachute to open in time. It may be that the aircraft was spinning out of control, preventing them baling out. Can any more information be provided about this raid. To lose 7 from one Squadron must have been a massacre worse than usual. I'd like to find out as much as possible about this particular raid. What further details can we find?
Thanks Kevin and also for taking the time to thank 'TINY' . Hope others will follow your example so we can give her a thank you out of the UK wich she never received!!!!!!!!!!!! Cmon Guys, don't be shide, it only takes a few minutes of your live and it means so much. Ron
The Homberg Raid 20/21 July 1944 147 Lancasters and 11 Mosquitos of Nos 1, 3 and 8 Groups attacked the oil plant at Homberg and caused severe damage. German documents show that the production of aviation fuel, which had stood at nearly 6,000 tons per day at the end of April, was now fluctuating between 120 and 970 tons per day, following Bomber Command and American Eighth Air Force raids. But German night fighters caught the Homberg bomber force and 20 Lancasters were lost. No 75 (New Zealand) Squadron, from Mepal, lost 7 of its 25 aircraft on the raid.
I tried but my outlook failed. I'd rather cut and paste the addy into my hotmail account The E-mail adres is beesel(at)market-garden.info. Thanks Ron

The good news is that we have the full cooperation of the RAF Bomber Command Assn who will be in Holland anyway for the 65th anniversary of the liberation of Holland. Much is going to happen but I can't say anything about it yet....it will be big!!!! The downside is that only 4 people took the time to say a word of thank from the UK to the woman who tended 45 years long a forgotten grave of a RAF man. Thank you all Ron
sent you a mail under msteffan addy Ronald a few weeks ago. As with Drew first link didnt work. Haven't received it nor the one from Drew, don't know what went wrong then. Thanks anyway.
I know mate so I sent another under modoracle using not using outlook. Iknow you got that as you thanked me for it.. Maybe other folk on here had similar problems which may explain the low numbers. Just a thought as it took me 3 attempts mate.
Ronald What a great photo of that lovingly tended grave. it looks a work of love and devotion. I do hope he has relatives who have a chance to see this photo. Must go, too much dust swirling into my eyes.
We are happy to announce that a letter has been sent to Tiny by Air Chief Marshal Sir Stephen Dalton KCB ADC BSc FRAeS FCMI RAF. Will post the content later. Cheers Ron
Please add our Thanks to Tiny and to all others who lovingly tend the graves of aircrew and others who gave their lives and whose families may never have the chance to stand there to say their farewells. "Would some kind soul lay flowers from a Mothers heart" is sometimes seen on headstones. How wonderful to know that it has been done.
Letter send to Tiny, from the Chief of the Air Staff, ofcourse her's copy is signed. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=139&pictureid=1600
Nice one Ronald, I surprised by the lack of response from the RAF members on here. A very well done to her. Cheers Andy
It cheers me to see such effort and dedication finding proper thanks. It was also a pleasure to see how tastefully the grave is being kept.
