Hi Thank you for all the information you provide on this site, I have spent hours and hours going through it. I have at last found some information on my dads service record but have not found anything about his regiment the 190. He sent an army Christmas card in December 1944 and in the corner the initials B.L.A are printed. He also signed it 'George and Dodger'. Anyone have any ideas where he might have been or who Dodger was? Thanks again
BLA British Liberation Army methinks: British Liberation Army If you search Google with "190 Field Regiment" ww2talk.com site:ww2talk.com that shows eight threads refer to the unit. Google will find a lot more when using "190 Field Regiment"
Hi Thanks for that, I have already googled and brought up stuff but all very technical about the guns and battery etc, I have service records (tracer card) and thanks to this site now know a lot more. I think the regimen were in Holland in 1944 so hopefully I can find more about that. We plan to visit the RA museum when out of lockdown now I'm hooked!
A bit of info here 190 Field Regiment RA - The Royal Artillery 1939-45 (ra39-45.co.uk) they were with 15th Division so if you have a look at 15th (Scottish) Infantry Division - Wikipedia it will give an idea of where they were and when
Thank you that's great. My Dad also had 127 Regiment on his tracer card which I understand is also a Scottish division. It is all so interesting. I strayed from my family history research and haven't gone back yet as I love this site!
127th Was a Field Regiment from the Highlands 127 (Highland) Field Regiment RA(TA) - The Royal Artillery 1939-45 (ra39-45.co.uk) and served with the 51st Highland Division
190 Field Regiment RA - The Royal Artillery 1939-45 George & Dodger Dodger could be someone called Roger, or a small person used to dodging about, or could be in the Army based in Italy as they were called D Day Dodgers. Difficult to know really TD
