Can any one help identify which Royal Eng Bomb Disposal Companies where stationed in the Liverpool Area during August and September 1940?

I am trying to find out further details of an incident that led to the death of one of my local casualties on the 5th / 6th Sept 1940.

Have you asked Clive (CL1) if he can check his Then and Now Blitz Vols? The incident may get a mention in one of the 3 Vols.

I have the book mentioned above by Orwell - is your casualty a BD chap? If so let me have the name and I can look it up.

    Hi Phil,
Since writing the book on the BD casualties I have come across a few more details relating to the subject, but having had a quick look at my notes I don't appear to have any information on a casualty on that date. Records from that rather turbulent time in the early days of BD are not too comprehensive.
You could try putting a message here -

I believe No 10 Bomb Disposal Company's war diary, WO 166/4002, covers the period and I've noted that it mentioned they were at Manchester and Liverpool. However, if a casualty was recorded in the diary I think I would have made a note of it.
I'd certainly be interested to know some more details of the chap you are interested in.
By the way, here's an undated but named photo that might be of interest to those researching BD in the Liverpool area. They have badges on their sleeves so your chap won't be among them as the badge came in later.

Jason, Drew, Steve, Andy, Chris thanks for the input.

The casualty I am researching was actually a civilian who was a patient at Stanley Hospital on Stanley Road, Kirkdale Liverpool. Her death Cert states that she dies from shock as a result of a bomb explosion on the 6th September 1940.

Her Nephew told me that she was too ill to be moved during an air raid, and died from the results of a raid.

But, there are no casualties listed for the night of the 6th Sept in the close vicinity so it looks as if there where no direct hits. I have found a reference to a bomb hitting the hospital wall in the autumn of 1940, so was hoping that the B.D. Company Diary might tell me more.

The casuaty, Bessie Wycherly was an British Red Cross Nurse and is currently not commerated by the CWGC, alhough I have submitted her details for consideration.
