Took off from Harwell for a night cross-country, the crew comprising of three pilots an observer and four wireless operators. At approximately 2300 hrs while flying between 800 and a thousand feet, collided with Tiger Moth II N6968 of 6 EFTS which was operating from the Reserve Landing Ground at Denton. Info on the fate of the other two airmen from the Tiger Moth: Ten aircrew were killed when Wellington Ic X9799 of 15 OTU (based Harwell), on a cross- country night training flight, collided with Tiger Moth N6968 of 6EFTS (based at Denton), between 800-1000 feet amsl at approximately 23:00hrs. The aircraft crashed north east of Piddington Station, near Denton, Northants, and was completely burnt out. All crew in both aircraft were killed - eight in the Ten aircrew and two in the Tiger Moth The Tiger Moth’s occupants were : Instructor 90507 Flt Lt (Plt) Edward Murray Frisby, RAFVR, of Cropston, Leicestershire is buried at St Cuthbert Churchyard, Great Glen, Leicestershire. Sydney George Parrott was my uncle. I have researched his life extensively and have lots of photos. Please say if you want any details and I'll see what i can do. He flew 26 bombing missions with 75NZ squadron in 1941 and on completion of his "tour" was posted to 15 OTU and was training new crews in low level night flying when the accident happened.
