Great you found the medals Duane, a shame that he wouldn’t sell them to you but one day, who knows, he may decide to do just that and, hopefully, he still has your contact details to offer them to you first.

Hi Wobbler, yes, we did come to an agreement that i would be offered them first.
I do have a replica set that will have to do for now!
In my previous text i did of course put that i had contacted the seller, incorrect, of course it was firstly the seller( auction house) then the buyer. Sorry for any confusion.
Interestingly they had only just been sold by two or three days! The previous owner (unknown) kept them in a drawer for many years.
Throughout my journey looking back at Peter's short life he did achieve many things which make me so proud of him. I received a glowing letter from Geoffrey Wellum recounting his fondest memories of Peter! Such an honour!

Two or three days, how agonisingly close.

I am searching for my great grandfather’s WW1 Trio, but doubt I will ever find them. You never know. For now, as I want to make a framed display for his memory, I bought another trio. They are originals, as you know there are plenty out there, but are not his, of course. The best I could do was buy a set that had been awarded to someone of his same rank and Corps, but that’s something at least.

I hope one day we will see you on here celebrating having the medals back!

Hi Martin, i sympathize, but i feel we are both doing our best! What was his name? You never know.
    I managed to find Peter's father's WW1 medals, lucky i suppose!

I’ve all the relevant searches set up, medal tracker, Ebay and I frequently have a trawl. One day and, as you say, you found Peter’s father’s. Yours and others’ stories of finding medals does give me some hope :D
