...but it's now a small atlas in booklet format (similar dimension to a folded michelin map)... The real advantage of this is that, for the coverage of what once was on 3 maps , all is now in one volume.

Right I'm with you now...A picture paints a thousand words so to speak etc.

I think I may order the current one of CWGC.

    Cheers

Ref CWGC making money I just noticed this on one of their books

Remembered will be available direct from the Commission at a special price of £29.95 including postage and packing (non UK buyers, please use the Contact Us page to request details). We are aware that Remembered is available elsewhere for a reduced price, but buying it from us ensures that the money goes straight to the Commission and be used to care for the graves and memorials of the war dead around the world.

Yes, I'd forgotten that. Wonder if they got a better deal as they are in the Eurozone?

I was wondering if it was actually because they recieve no state funding that michelin may have wavered a usage fee? (plus they get a good bit of free advertisement! (I notice that the Michelin Man pops up quite regularly in them atlasses!). Could they (Michelin) bounce the costs off their taxes with it being , basically, a "charitable donation", I wonder?

Not sure, but I do know to use a Michelin map in a publication costs un bras et une jambe as they say...

The Map Book came today and at first glance I must stay it is rather good !

Just one remark though. A little icon in the index stating whether the cemetery has WW1, WW2 or both war casualties in it would make it even better.

It is good though and worth the money.......They should do a Europe (EU) wide one though at the very least and a world Atlas would be nails for when you go on holiday !

It's quite eye opening when you see the amount of cemeteries around Normandy then look at a almost straight line between Arras and Ypres - There must be hundreds of cemeteries forming a broad line between the two cities !

It looks like it isn't as good as I first thought...They appear to have forgotten about Oostduinkerke Communal Cemetery.

I visited Oostduinkerke Communal when I was on holiday there a few years ago. Mostly 4 Div. casualties from the defence of Nieuwpoort.

There is also a cluster of RAF non-flying ranks from 19/8/42 which puzzled me at the time but which resulted from the loss of an RAF crewed launch as I recall.
