Having been to Monte Camino where both battalions fought, I'd like to see the photos anyway, if that's OK ? Welcome to the forum .
Hi Owen My father was at monti camino where he was wounded,he was in the ox & bucks then but after he recovered from his wounds he was put in the 2/6 queens i think it was about 10 months later the photos are all soldiers. not action shots but i'll have to get them scanned in and try and post them on here which i've not done before so you will have to bear with me
In case you haven't seen it, this will help you with your pics. http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/network-information/12816-how-insert-pictures-into-your-posts.html
I visited the grave of a soldier of 7/OBLI killed at Monte Camino when I was in Italy with Owen last year. I have a photo of him, as I made the visit for his daughter who lives in Canada.
I think this 2/6 queens in venice on the back of the photo it says battle patrol anyone know more about this battle patrol ?
View attachment 15352 just a test photo i think this is ox & bucks in cairo anyone know what the vehicle is ? Looks like a Ford WOT2 15cwt Phill, 4x2 & nearly 60,000 produced. Great shot, looks like there might be some catastrophic incontinence going on in the bowels of the truck... Cheers, & welcome aboard, Adam.
Good shout Adam, was thinking Morris but of course it isn't. Phill, you right about the Venice photo, Queen's cap badge . Battle Patrol, if I'm right they usually a select group of tough nuts attached to Bn HQ who went out at night looking for trouble.
I can't help the feeling that this particular battle patrol is hoping to engage with an enemy consisting of a few bottles of something nice and the company of some Venetian ladies. Another nice shot, keep 'em coming Phill.

Phill do you have any names from the photo of 2/6th Venice? I have some photo's from my grandfathers album. He was Queens but I don't know which batallion, however I suspected 2/5th/6th/7th from their timeline. Any way I have some photo's and a couple of people look like the ones from your photo.
My grandad is George Cant The fellow back row 4th left is eddie gray. To me he resembles from the Venice pic the guy 2nd left. My grandfather being 3rd from left. Here is a pic of him. What do you reckon ?
Hi James I agree they do look alike, but i can't be sure. do you have any more information about your grandad ,do you know any more about his war experiance i don't know if the regimental museum would have any photo's of soldiers in their units as group photo's , maybe someone out there can help. but it would be interesting if the person in the photo are the same
I don't know very much except my mother says he was in tripoli, egypt and that he was ill for a time aboard hospital ship " Aba". I'm trying the regimental museum at the moment. I also found an Eddie Gray died 1944 by using Geoffs search engine linked from tis site. But he is listed as 1/6th battalion Queens.
Hi Phil Sorry for the delay but I have just logged on to your request of last year.the 3 Queens Regts fought in the second battle for Camino (2/5th - 2/6th and 2/7th) their task was to take "Razor Back" Ridge which was dominated by the small Chapel on top of Camino, it was the 2/7th that finally took tyhe small Chapel (also named the Monastery) although at the end of the battle men of B coy 2/5th were inside the remains of th Chapel when the Germans laid down a heavy mortar attack which landed on the Chapel roof causing it to collapse killing many of B coy. If you ever visit Camino again and wish to climb up to the Chapel I will give you the name of the woman who has the key so that you can viist the interior, inside you will se a couple of photo's I have left there, one of my Uncle (6th Btn G.G.) and another of a father of a friend of mine who served in the 2/5th Queens. I have recently found out the two of my Uncles fought with the Queens but I have no idea which Regt, although I know they were at Camino, so if you have a list I would be very interested in seeing it. I have the History of the 2/7th and 2/5th Queens and I am looking for the History of the 2/6th any idea's? By the way the Chapel has undergone extensive restoration some 4 years ago, it was completely rebuilt this time with a pitched roof, if you do manage to get there just above the Chapel on the very top of Camino you can still see the remains of the German observation tower. This would explain how your father ended up with the 2/6 Queens.
