Massive thanks to previous posts on this forum, by TrickyDicky et al! I was able to establish the following about my great grandfather using their advice: Name: J C W Handford Rank: Pte Army Number: 26754 POW Number: 75083 Camp Type: Stalag Camp Number: 8A Camp Location: Gorlitz, Poland Section: South African Land Forces : Officers and Other Ranks I understand that these prisoners were moved from Italian camps PG. 52 (Chiavari), 57 (Grupignano), and 82 (Arezzo) to Stalag VIIIA. My g. grandfather's service record indicates that he was: Confirmed POW 2EME/CPOW/52 4/11/1942 Would 2EME/CPOW/52 indicate that he had been at Chiavari, or am I grasping at straws? What else might be gleamed from the attached record? Regards, Drummond
