I have asked a lady who recently joined the forum (Chazz / RockyRogue) to see if she can locate the grave of a RAAF member who was buried in her home town of Rockhampton in 1946

No luck so far, but this bloke’s name was found in the local cemetery while she was out searching.

Private Holmes was KIA so how did he end up in Rockhampton cemetery? Not buried there but his name was added to the family plot and he is actually buried overseas.

Thanks for the extra information. I shall be getting back there on the weekend so hoepfully more luck on your RAAF member, but this was an interesting find. I suspected he was not actually buried here but it is nice to know where he is actually located and more about him.

    Hello

I have come across this a lot whereby a casualty is remembered within the family plot but buried elsewhere
    examples attached

Both Remembered in the UK but buried abroad

    regards
