Private Frank Edwards and the Footballers of Loos remembers

    The London Irish Rifles today commemorated the events of 25 September 1915 - the first day of the Battle of Loos - when Private Frank Edwards, the 1st Battalion's football captain dribbled a football across No Man's Land toward the German trenches.

    The sobering facts of 25th Sept 1915 are that 69 men of the LIR died on that day and 10,266 in total died while serving with Commonwealth forces...
