    Hello,

I just wanted to thank you for putting up the link to my piece about Billy.

Because I knew Billy, after buying Denis Edwards book about The Ox & Bucks, I also became friends with him. For so many years I always sent them both an email at exactly the time they landed on D-Day & always thanked them for their service, then over the next day or so I would always get a reply from them both. First we lost Denis and then back in June 2012 I didn't get a reply from Billy for the first time ever. It was shortly after that when I heard he had also passed away.

It was an absolute honour to have known Billy, who, like so many of the Veterans I meet, was a very modest man about what he had done. I was in two minds about recording the piece originally, but hopefully people will feel I paid tribute to him. What I especially like about the story is that years later Billy and the German Para became friends.

I am a freelance audio engineer and one of the main things I do is produce the official Bletchley Park Podcast. It has been running for nearly 2 years now and each month we always have an interview with at least one Veteran. Helping to tell their stories, to save them for future generations is my very small way of thanking all of them for their service.

    Many thanks again.
