    Dear All,

In recent days, the publishing house LULU published the English translation of the book “Prigionieri di Guerra in Lomellina/ Prisoners of War in the Lomellina” by Giuseppe Zucca, translated by Janet Kinrade Dethick (cod.: qjq78d).

The book tells of the establishment of a work camp for allied prisoners in Mortara, province of Pavia, and of the more than 30 secondments into which 1734 British and 610 South Africans were divided.

The book focuses in particular on the escape of prisoners after the armistice of September 1943, the following hunting done by the German occupiers and the Fascists but also the help provided by many Italians to save thousands of escapers and helping them to run in Switzerland.

At the end of the book there is a huge appendix with numerous data and documents related to the prisoners and stories of those dramatic events.

If you have any questions, please send an email to giuseppe.zucca(at)libero.it.

    Kind Regards,

    Giuseppe
