Does anyone here know the locations (and the camps) of 1st Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment from around 1906 to 1912 please? I saw on the 1911 census that they were at Shorncliffe camp, but that is about as much I know during for this date range.

    Jules.

Deacs Well i am from Cumbria.

Don't know if you have had a look at Wikpedia but here is a link, and details of what they were up to.
I hope this is what you are after Jules.

    Meeting in India
The 1st Battalion was subsequently stationed in India from 1897 until 1903. Here, the 1st and 2nd Battalions met for the first time, and no fewer than 590 men from the 1st Battalion were transferred to the 2nd Battalion.[10] Thus 1st Battalion was reduced to a small cadre, which served for nine years upon its return to Lichfield and other stations in England, before moving to Ireland in 1912.
    Cheers Mike.

    Hi Jules
just wondered if you'd had any luck. I was just looking for Thomas Palmer 1 N Staffs who died in Fermoy in 1912 and saw the wiki info about them having moved to Ireland in 1912.
On the 1911 census he's home from leave and had no idea he was in Ireland.
Interested to hear of any info you'd found.Plan to look further into this in the New Year.
    Regards
    Steve

Hi Tricky, thanks for the speedy reply. A relation in Australia saw this on Ancestry, have been looking for him for several years.1911 census has him the 1st North Staffs regiment and then he disapeared until seeing this record. Parents George and Emily are correct as are brothers John and harry my great grandfather who was with the BEF in 1914.He was born in Newcastle u Lyme.
Just wonderd if you know anything about the battalion at this time.Presume this was around the start of the uprisings in Ireland?
Can't see any other military mention for him.His full name was Thoma Moulton Palmer.
    Many thanks for your help
