    Hi,

I have what I believe to be a 1940 .55 calibre Kynoch Works brass shell round from a British Boys Anti-Tank rifle.

However the shell case appears to be wrong shape and I have no idea what the brass end piece is? Do the 2 belong together and if so what is the purpose or has someone pulled them together?

    Any help thoughts greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Craig

A quick 'Google' would have shown that you do not have a genuine .55 round. Your piece *may* use the lower section of the cartridge, but that is all. I might suggest that you have some sort of home made cigarette lighter, but not one I've seen before. A photo of the whole round is attached.

I suspect the top half of the case has been cut off and inverted as the insert of the 'lid', then the 'bullet' has been formed over it from a different material.

It's a neat little container but no idea what function the screw serves.
