    Nice.

I like that 'Ladies wanted' bit too... makes me wonder if I've ever seen a picture of a wartime poppy seller.
Not sure I have, or any other 'ww2 poppies'...

Good stuff D. I'd call that a reasonably unequivocal demonstration of the Haig Fund's WW2 activities.
I can now say that I've definitely seen some WW2 references to 'em.

Seemingly wartime censorship extended to images of poppy sellers... can't find a one ;)

Although I wasn't selling them in the picture, we did help to sell them in pre-ATC days. That's me on the left doing a not very good Present Arms with my Home Guard rifle.

    marcus69x I love WW2 meah!!!

Speaking of remembrance day, does anyone know why it is always on the 2nd Sunday of the month in the UK? Just been having a google but can't find a direct answer.

Why not on the 11th regardless of what day it is? It should be a national holiday so nobody has to worry about working.

    Cheers.

Because it is usually the Sunday nearest to the 11th.

Aye mate but why not on the 11th? Apparantly it is in Australia for example.

Isn't it originally about the signing of the armistice in WW1?

Just wondering why we don't hold it on the 11th?
