As it is Rememberance Sunday soon I thought this was an interesting story:-

A POLISH sergeant will be laying the wreath at Grimsby Cenotaph on Sunday.

For the first time ever, a member of the Carpathian Lancers regiment, which holds a special place in the hearts of many people in the region, will be taking part in the town's Remembrance Sunday service.

The Carpathian Lancers also hold a special place in many veterans of the 8th Army - as the recce regiment for the 2nd Polish Div. for their actions at Tobruk - Alam Halfa - Iraq and Italy - particularly at Cassino and Ancona - the Canadian Corps were alongside at the start of the Gothic Line and we pushed them out at around Cattolica when they went into reserve.

    Cheers
