    The pub is now closed and the plans to turn the site into a supermarket with a nod to the past for the memorial.

    The Orchard pub in Ruislip has been added to Hillingdon Council’s local list of buildings of architectural and historical importance following a nomination by residents.

    The decision was approved by the council’s Cabinet on 10 April after a six-week public consultation held between 1 January and 13 February, during which 97 per cent of responses supported the building being added to the list.

    The local list includes buildings that are of good design quality or hold historical and cultural value within the borough. While the list does not provide statutory protection, it ensures that these factors are considered in future planning applications.
