    Dear readers,

My name is Maria and I am a 3rd year student in London - Film Production. For my final project I have to do a documentary about survivors of WW2. One of the tasks is to find living british pilots who bombed Ploieti, Romania during night time in 1944, August - when during daytime, Americans bombed the oil raids.

I have started my reearch 2 months ago and the only thing missing is this piece. All I know for sure is that they bombed between 1-18th of Aug, 1944 and the Squadrons were:

    1. No 70 - dropped mines in the Danube and attacked South East Europe during 1944-9145
    2. No 31 (including a B-24 aircraft) = strategic targets in the Balkans, including Romania / mine-laying missions on the Danube
    3. No 178
    4. No. 614

That's all I know. Can anyone help me? I relly need to find the names of the pilots and see if anyone s still alive.

    Thank you so much!!

    Maria

MANY aircraft bombed Ploesti Oil fields from Foggia Italy after the 8th army had captured those airfields in September 1943- the bombers were MAINLY from the USAAF while the British

smaller aircraft looked after targets in Italy itself so perhaps you would be better served on the other forum which has many more Americans than this one- someone will hacve the name of

that forum- sand will be along shortly

    Cheers
