I picked up this Nazi party pin from a friend who's father passed away. He simply did not want the thing. I was wondering if anybody could tell me if it was for the promotion of Hitler being elected head of the Nazi party or what. Thanks!
As indicated by the SS runes, this is some sort of SS badge: the motto "Meine Ehre heißt Treue" is generally associated with them and is more usually found on their daggers.
It's the SS Oath surrounding a modern misrepresentation of a Party badge isn't it? (Cross-posted with Vitesse) I suspect that's a piece of modern 'white power' jewelry, rather than an authentic bit of Nazi history?
Possibly one for the guys over at Axis History Forum; View forum - Axis Awards, Badges & Decorations? I did a quick hunt over there but could only find references to daggers and belt buckles.
If it is the genuine article, then it is a little late as regards the owner's party membership. It looks as if the pin is intended to commemorate Hitler's rise to power in February 1933 when he became the German Chancellor. Taking about the giving away of unwanted gifts. In Lloyd George's grandson's obituary recently,it was stated that his grandfather gave him a portrait of Hitler which he in turn refused to accept. One never knows,it might appear on Ebay.

Well, I am not exactly interested in owning a piece of "white power" nonsense. Well, I appreciate all the help! I should say the plastic sheath it came in had a sticker on it that reads "Adolf Hitler Political Pin, 1933, VERY RARE, $98.99" That is what his father payed back in the 70's for it. I just don't know.
Never seen one like this before , the runes, oak leaves and the SS oath make me a bit suspect of it. I am inclined to go with VP on this almost certainly photos would exist of this being worn and so far it is one which I ( at least) have never seen. You see loads of photos of SS men wearing party badges , but why not this one ? I can't imagine it is so rare that it has escaped being seen in photos. I looked in Detlev Niemann's 2005 catalogue and price guide for Orders and Decorations, it is not listed there. Could you post a photo of the reverse side of the badge ? (Thanks)
Ok, here's the back of the pin. Sorry it took me a while, I'm a busy guy lol. And again, I really appreciate all the help!
£6.99, 10th from the top. I don't really like the sandblasted finish on the back, it looks too 'modern' to my eyes, it should have been stamped smooth. The Nazi party produced a bewildering variety of awards, some of which were very much official and there would be certain trouble if you wore one without proper entitlement. Others were the kind you purchased at the local party rally, with no special meaning. This one is interesting due to the SS theme, which would limit it's circulation it it were real. Some interesting reading here. The official long service badge was the Golden Party Badge issued to party members enrolled before 1933 and who had never left the party in between. some 22,000 were issued. I believe this one is either a reproduction of one of those minor badges, or it may be one of those modern white power regalia items, to be likened to a tin iron cross on a fibreglass Hells Angels nazi helmet. This repro thing is not new, I see ads for them in my early seventies Military Modelling mags. If you want the quintessence in bad taste, you can go here.
Golden Party Badge issued to those senior members of the party, the old comrades who were mockingly referred to as Golden Pheasants (Goldfasanen) The use of the German eagle for party uniforms led to a plethora of omithological nicknames for party officials.Another such nickname was "Totenvogel", (Birds of Death),the nickname for the local party officials who had the responsibility of informing families of soldiers that the soldier had been killed on the battlefield. As regards Nazi memorabilia, there would not be what is really a commercial manufacturing market, if there was not a demand from "enthusiasts".
