    Hi David,

I'd tend towards a Dodge D60 3-ton lorry but it would be easier if you could ask a couple of them to move out of the way!

    Regards

They certainly got their moneys worth out of that photo. Ron is the tall bloke standing on the left in the boiler suit. Thanks for your identification of a Dodge D60. Attached is a copy of a Christmas card he sent home, note the 1681 on the rear axle

    Regards,

    David.

Hi Everyone - Im just starting to try to research my Grandfather, Frederick Watts, war record. He was a Dunkirk veteran (I believe with I Corps, 1st Heavy Regiment, 5th Battery) who was then posted to 552 Coast Artillery near Dover, and later to the ACC as part of the British Land Army in July 44. I have his army service records, which are brief, and from his 39-45 Star award looks like he was involved with 1681 Artillery Platoon from Feb '44. He survived the war but died before I was born so I dont have any stories from him. Would be most grateful for any help and materials you could provide

Might be an idea to start a thread here Searching for Someone & Military Genealogy
then upload the records for forum members to have a gander at
you will not find info on him from pay for sites on the internet
plus you can then look at getting the war diaries
A couple of members on the forum offer a copy service from the National Archives at a reasonable rate

have a look at this thread Royal artillery - 1st Heavy regiment at Dunkirk
    regards

Hi everyone - fascinating memoirs, which I have really enjoyed reading. I believe my grandfaher might have been part of this platoon for a while

Does anyone know how many men would be part of the (1681 Artillery Regiment Platoon (RASC)) platoon at any one time?
