I am currently stationed in Germany at Sennelager Training Center. STC has a rich WW1 and WW2 history. The training area has been in existence for over 120 years. Since the end of WW2 STC has been used by the British Army as an excercise ground. Much from WW2 survives here. The Panther and Tiger tanks went through their Proving Training here, The reservoir that the Tigers were driven through, to test their snorkels, still survives, as do a number of interesting bunkers.
About 20 mins drive from Sennelager is the small town of Wewelsburg. Many will know that the prominent castle in the town waqs used by Himmler as the religious and cultural center of the elite of the SS. Guided tours, in English, are possible through the castle. Many of the rooms used by the SS, such as the "Whisper Room" remain closed to the General Public, with fear of attracting unwanted Neo-Nazi's. With prior appointment, however, the rooms will be opened as long as you have a group of 10 or more people. I will be trying to find some interested parties to go here, as will I be trying to get onto the training area to take some photos. I will try and post them on the forum for all to see.

    Best regards

    Iain
