During WW2 there was at least one pipe band in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, this pipe band was disbanded in 1947. Pipe Major was Nancy Anderson, who was succeeded by Edna - I don't know her last name. Does anyone have more information about A.T.S. Pipe Majors and when (year from-to) they were Pipe Major? Aad
Maybe there is more info in this article - http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/real-life/here-come-skirls-world-war-5706261#UOusjWyTxPITCVqL.97 "Now Mary’s story is being told as part of a VE Day exhibition, founded on a small book she has written, titled They Shall Have Music Wherever They Go." "The exhibition is on now at Rutherglen Library." TD
Tricky Dicky, I know the newspaper article and I have been in contact with the Rutherglen Library, yet this is all the information I could collect so far, plus the fact that Nancy Anderson was born in Coatbridge. Aad
Hi Aad I'm afraid my sleuthing abilities stop at the Scottish border as Scotland has kept its records to itself and they are not available as easily or cheaply as other parts of the UK - at least not after 1910 ish anyway. TD
