I've just discovered that my granny had a cousin who was killed in Libya on 27th May 1942 while serving in the Pioneer Corps. He is buried in the Knightsbridge War Cemetery at Acroma, nr. Tobruk.

The info. from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission says that he was a Company Quartermaster Serjeant. Is that the usual spelling of "sergeant" in the Pioneer Corps? As quartermaster, would he have had responsibility for stores?
