Do you have construction experience? I wouldn't want it to crash down on your head.

    I think it's a great initiative. B)

I would love to have a go at doing something like that if i had the time, resources, expertise, space... ok, pretty impossible for me right now, but we can all dream. somewhere like that would be great to go and hide from the family.

right, now wheres that Bailey Bridge? :p

    :D
A 'folly' is a mostly pointless structure built (usually by the aristocracy) purely to please the eye mate. Strange towers in landscaped gardens, artificial caves etc.

Be assured you were actually being paid a compliment for your endeavours ;).

Well, if you don't want to cause offense, don't be offensive. If you haven't read the Forum Rules then I suggest you do so.

Will have a look - I'm sure I've a plan or two somewhere, certainly quite a few on tank turret ones, but need to have a proper dig for Tobruks etc.

Mauser98 - All power to you - I too am a hot rodder and needed another shed to put old car stuff in to make more room in the garage - bought this for £16 off eBay-

Now in my garden, but no old car stuff in it yet - will hide that under the benches so not to spoil the 'atmosphere'.

Sure this will last longer than a DiY wooden shed, cheaper, and much more interesting feature in the garden!
As a rodder did you notice the 1930's Ford 'wishbone' holding the electric cable?

    Great stuff Chris.

I had a shufti for German Bunkers, and as most of what I have in books seems to be taken from US field manual TM-E 30-451, I thought I'd have a Google.
    Lone Sentry has it online:

TM-E 30-451 Handbook on German Military Forces, WWII War Department Technical Manual, March 1945 (Lone Sentry)
Yet without the illustrations (that I can see).

But Hyperwar also has it, and they've scanned the pictures/plans:
HyperWar: Handbook on German Military Forces (TM-E 30-451)
    Specifically:
HyperWar: Handbook on German Military Forces (Chapter 5)

Now; I don't want to bend this thread. So, I'm off to start one I'll entitle " Back Garden Air Raid Shelters ". I'll link back to this one for the reference ;)

Thats realy nice, thats what im talking about.I just dont want to sell my baby to do it.But that thing is a money pit!!!!But haveing a type 24 bunker in my back yard would not be bad.My kids are going to love it.They will probaly camp out in it,I would have and may to do some deer hunting out of it. And it will serve a purpose when a twister comes around my area. And as von Poop said "A corner of Texas forever England"
