Resilient bird that I frankly both admire and detest.

Seems to be a bit of a queue. Sparrow hovering in front of a nest box hidden in a creeper, high up on a wall.

We have tried everything over the years to tempt the beautiful Gold Finches all around us to come into our garden but now we are older and less able to dig the flower beds we have let them go a bit. Lo and behold on camera early this morning two were taking seed from the now self set Corn Flowers.

Something is stealing the brigadiers strawberries.
A family of foxes a Vixen and three cubs playing and helping themselves.. They will probably come back later for the Raspberries
Cant really put nets over them because the hedgehogs might get trapped in them.
Its sort of a sacrifice to he local wildlife as we have more in baskets hanging on the fence along the patio where the foxes dont go, because the Husky sleeps there either under the table or inside the patio doors.
Recommended natural deterrent from an environmental and nature conservation expert : Lion Poo placed in areas you don't want foxes to go.
Alternative,: pee on your fences around the garden. Not sure if he is taking the pee with that one!

I've started to take my camera when I go out a wandering these days - these make a change from the usual mass of photos of the ducks and swans that just make it too easy

What do Fox Cubs eat other than strawberries?
Is this one carrying a dead bird killed by a cat or flown into a window?
They are after all scavengers, even our old hedgehog dragged one back once as they are scavengers too.
Fledglings disappear overnight now you know why.

I'm not sure whether to be pleased about this or not...For the first time ever, the hop plant has suffered an aphid infestation..and so heavy that it is really damaging it...and now it's covered with larvae of Harmonia axyridis - the smelly introduced Asian ladybirds. If they stay outside next winter, then fine...a nightmare if they come into the house in quantity.

In other news, it's bloody hot here today (that's hotter than blood heat by 10°f !)

We didn't bring the trail camera in until 12pm yesterday by which time it was in direct sunlight. The internal thermometer was reading 39 degrees. The garden thermometer read 33 degrees in the shade. I put the camera back out at midnight at 18 degrees but it didn't record anything.

Today it feels damn cold 13 degrees and raining, now10 degrees and falling in the evening.
At least the old Husky is happy.

The fighting Dove. I read somewhere that these Doves migrated to the UK across Europe from Turkey.
Certainly feisty. This one took Umbridge to a Magpie that wanted to share the food, after a quick defence the Magpie decided to go elsewhere.
