  1. I believe I have found 2 photos online on my grandfather at Stalag XX-B.

They are holding a board that states "Stalag XX-B Main Camp London District" but also in the left hand corner is 617 (prob by hand) does this number bear any relevance??

    Many thanks in advance.

Here's one, I can't find the website I got the other from and I have yet to work out how to get the picture from my computer to here, but both have the same number in the corner, although this looks like it may have been an early one?? purely due to their appearences in the second they do not look in so well.

Any tips on how to get the other one here?

Found it www.tuppencechange.co.uk/wp_00048.html - Later maybe?

This number could be a serial number for the photo. Similar PoW photos bear the same hand. If the photos are different with the same people and the same number it could also be their Work Party number. The work number is usually prefixed by a letter of the nationality of the Work Party because all PoWs were segregated by nationality soon after their capture. In this case it should be E617. The Work Parties had terrible uniforms and as I have said before, these photos are posed with a first class standard in dress. After the photo shoot the crabby uniforms were returned to the PoWs.
