    Hi Geoff

How totally amazing!!! I can't recall why I especially took the photo of Lieutenant Webster's name but there must have been a reason. His is the only name I photographed - maybe because of LH? It was back in 2010 would you believe, but I searched through my photos last night when I read your post.

I would so, so love to go to Gaza! Very much so (as my gg uncle, 10th ALH fought there and was very seriously wounded - he never really recovered and died in 1919 and is buried in Cairo).

I have your email address so will send the photos in an hour or so!

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff

I just emailed you another Lieut Webster photo which I think is a better one.

Not going to Gaza unfortunately but AM going to Addis Ababa in November AND have a free morning!! (although I would have flown overnight). I see there is only one Australian in the cemetery and will be making a special effort to get there.

    cheers

    Hi Judy,

That too would be gratefully received as I am sure I would never get there.

    This is the loss detail:

    Hi Geoff

Thank you for the details. It is good to see Sergeant Bull was especially remembered on Anzac Day

I could never have imagined that I'd be going there - but an amazing opportunity opened up to go on a study tour in the region. I've been in touch with the organisers and they will assist us with arrangements so really hoping all goes well. We will take an Australian poppy for him and of course take photos.

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff

Had an email from the organisers yesterday to say one of our project visits has been cancelled and instead they have arranged for the group (only 7 of us) to visit the CWGC cemetery in Addis Ababa... ... excellent news!

We will be back on 18 November so will be in touch soon after.

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff

Pleased to report that we are safely back and have photographs of Sgt Bull's headstone in Addis Ababa. We spent quite some time in the cemetery and others (including the gardeners!) were very interested in what we knew of the story. We also had a picture of a Wellesley aircraft.

Amazingly we saw in the visitors' book that the nephew of the pilot, PO Bazley, had been there in March. He lives in Japan and had left his address so we will be in touch.

Will send the photos in the next few days.

    Cheers

    Glad you are back safely.

Look forward to the photos and a possible story from his nephew. Proves the "children" have not forgotten the debt they owe.

    Cheers

    Hi Geoff

I've just sent the photos - hope they arrive safely and sorry they have taken so long. Felt quite exhausted after a fortnight there (heat and altitude - and age??!!).

Yes it will be interesting to see if we hear anything from his nephew. Will certainly let you know.

    Cheers

    Hi Judy,

    Fantastic photos - Thank you.

Hope you enjoyed the heat at Addis now you are moving into the chilly part of the year. We have had a cool and wet spring in Melbourne however the past couple of days are preparing us for a warm summer.

All the best for Christmas and the New Year.

    Cheers

    Geoff

I took these today in some woods near Maidenhead (Berkshire) This is the Re-newed version. I first photographed the original about 7 years ago. When I can find those....

I was told that this tree (Remains) was the main point of entry into these woods ? But also definitely a section of one of the craters of impact.

    Thanks LF,

Crash and explosion must have been horrific for them to be listed at Runnymede.
