Not much of a silver lining in the cloud, is there?

I hope I'm not completely stupid.
Appreciate that the days of making decent/survival Internet money from advertising are over depending on scale, and sites have to trim (Worries us and the boss constantly), but the figure they want, overnight, for 3rd party hosting is more than enough for an individual to hire an entire VPN to host their own images.
With 100M+ users, and the right management of the issue, many of us would have paid a reasonable amount to secure hosting - even maybe for just long enough to fix a decade or so of images - but $40 a month is not 'reasonable'.

And the perverse thing is that the longer you've used their service (the more loyal a customer you have been), the more you are now stiched up!

I'll hold fire with my downloading and deleting to see whether you can manage a image/link swap en masse. I must say, I'm not optimistic.

It doesn't help, but the fact that this is going down like a tall glass of lukewarm sick (have you seen their Twitter feed?) does offer a sliver of consolation.

After a day of apparently swaying under the strain, their download tool finally allowed grabbing all my images as a .zip file.
On unpacking, image titles are retained, so there's at least scope for easier mending of threads where the pictures weren't just throwaway. (Obviously, I already have most of the pictures I actually took stored elsewhere, but titles were often changed for a hosted upload.)

Will sit and watch for a day or two, though.
Never know, they might create some sort of arrangement.

Edit - You have to DL all albums individually. 'Library' a different category.
Got all the Trux images out (yup, hosted there) - so will endeavour to fix those in the next week.

I'm on my second day of attempting downloads sub-album by sub-album, each time having to negotiate reCAPTCHA on albums which are private anyway. I wish I were a bloody robot!
Not even a third of the way through the account. Encountering persistent error messages (*no images recognised in an album def containing images, rejecting entire download because of non-existent gifs etc), frozen screens ...

*moving images from sub-albums to the main Library bucket seems to be the quickest solution.

Oh, I'm looking forward to this.

I'm finding opening extra tabs and trying DL of different albums is working.
Only on Chrome, though. Opening PB in Firefox has been little but a wave of spam for a while now.

Thankfully, I've got only one single folder, but I've never used their download tool. Is it a separate piece of software or just a function?

    Where does one find it?

    About done.
Clicking to last page of an album seems to give better success, though that might just be web witchcraft perception....

I've just spoken to Lesley (4Jonboy) and I've lost a ton of stuff I've posted over the years. I have the originals on my hard drives (backed up). I may take for ever to reinstate/repost.

    %&£*$*!!!!!!!!!!!!! As Adam says, B%$KS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! to Photobucket>

My photobucket account seems to be unchanged. I rarely use it, but the last time I did (on another forum) someone was able to access one of my family photos and posted it. So I cleared most of it after that.

Whilst starting to reinstate missing photos of RAF headstones I've taken, I've noticed all the links I've done to Flikr have been removed as well. Double crap!!!!!

This must be as bad as overwriting your portable hard drive.:reallymad::tank: :surr:

The work I posted regarding my Dad's unit has been ruined for me.

I'm a little puzzled by all this. I can still see all of mine. I've viewed some of my threads on a pc where I have never been logged on with anything and the photobucket images are all visible there as well...what is going on exactly ? Should I be worried / taking action at this stage ? I have only used it for forum postings, not for storage and have back-ups of of everything.

It might just be local browser cache not having updated yet.
Unless you've already bunged them some money for one of their pre-deranged deals.
They might have shouted Driver! Reverse!, but I doubt it.
they might have just hit people with a certain level of pics/storage (I had c.4.5k pics @ 21% of base account storage.)
Perhaps they even let a pic display once before putting the notice up.
    Lord knows.

Can you send a link of a thread you looked at and I'll see what shows to me.
All mine I can think of are still showing this across all browsers and machines.:
