    Hi Tony

Checking further I have only found 2 births that might fit the bill:

    Phoebe Curtis
    1913 Jan-Feb-Mar Aston Warwickshire

    Phoebe M Curtis
    1911 Jul-Aug-Sep West Ham Essex

As the second one has the middle initial 'M' I would assume that this is hers, so born 1911 in Essex

    Tony,
Curtis was her married name. The London Gazette lists her as Mrs Phoebe Marion Curtis. I have found a reference for her being born in Hampshire and residing in Aberdeen, Scotland.
I am struggling to find her marriage though?

Using the Whitfield surname for her and birth 1912:

    Name: Phoebe M Whitfield
    Mother's Maiden Name: Herr
    Registration Year: 1912
    Registration Quarter: Oct-Nov-Dec
    Registration district: Portsmouth
Parishes for this Registration District: View Ecclesiastical Parishes associated with this Registration District
    Inferred County: Hampshire
    Volume: 2b
    Page: 794

From this I note that there are 2 private family trees that have the details above included in their tree, there is no guarantee that they have any more (marriage, death etc) but I can ask or point them in the direction of this thread.

On looking again at the private family trees I note that they are by the same person - so only 1 tree on Ancestry

    TD,

Durrington is next door to Larkhill.

Yesterday I was looking for a WO II serving with the Royal Artillery who died in 1944. He was stationed at Larkhill, hospitalised in Salisbury and buried at Durrington.

As Phoebe's Roll of Honour info gives her residence as Aberdeen I would guess that was where she died, or at least the accident ocurred (then hospitalised?) after her death I assume she was moved by the family to Durrington for final burial. Initial guess work on my part.

It will be interesting to see the death cert and see what that says.

Well! Having spent weeks with colleagues’ assistance and my own physical problem and computer breakdown. I eventually received Phoebe’s Death Certificate and completed her profile I prepare such documents in a Word Document for easier corrections and copy and paste into the main document. This I did and clicked on SAVE and the bloody thing disappeared . So here we go again any corrections or errors gladly received.+

Phoebe Marion Curtis nee Whitfield was born October 1912 in Portsmouth, Hampshire. Patents Forenames unrecorded other than Mother’s maiden name was Herr. Phoebe had two siblings Cyril Jackson born 1907 and Edward Nicholas born 1910 both born in Hampshire.

There is a record in the July-Sept quarter, 1931 of a marriage in Hendon, Middlesex between a Phoebe M. Whitfield and John H, Curtis. Sounds reasonable.

No further details of her pre 1939 Years when she enlisted in the Auxiliary Territorial Service, her enlistment rank is unknown but her management ability was enough for her to be commissioned as a Subaltern by 1944.

Phoebe was obviously attached to one of the many Army Garrisons based in the Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire area because she was run over by Amy motor vehicle on a military road in Tilshead, Wiltshire on 21st October 1944 and died in hospital on 22nd October from Laceration of the brain. Her address is recorded as West Lodge, Dunecht near Aberdeen. This address is also quoted in her Army Record so one assumes this was where she and her husband set up home.

    Tony some revisions:

Parents forenames unrecorded other than Mother’s maiden name was Herr

she was run over by an Army motor vehicle

on 21st October 1944 and died in hospital the same day from laceration of the brain.

    Well done Tony

I accept the two spelling errors, blame my fingers, but C.W.G.C. Certificate records died 22 October 1944. However the Death Cert may be wrong as, they initially have "Thirty first" recorded twice and both deleted with "Twenty first" entered above so who is correct? I also noticed that I had omitted to enter " Buried in Durrington Cemetery, Wiltshire grave location 803"
