Thanks for this Geoff. Just one of so many untold stories of bravery and deprivation.

When is somebody going to honour these brave men who suffered so much? Still dodging D Day, I'm, afraid.

    Hello Geoff,

As a (slight) Italy aside, did you ever cast your eyes over this post (and others within said thread) from back in 2021? (photos within courtesy of AFS Archive and the camera of John Candler Cobb II)

    Photographic Treasure Trove

New Zealand troops get a mention.

"Being "Seasoned Troops", we had been chosen to work again with our old friends, the Kiwis (now reformed into the New Zealand Corps) for the second major assault on Monte Cassino."

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

There is a new post on the 956563 Frank Slinn thread by Fay who is searching for information about Edward N Addis. I have copied it to this thread in the hope of her receiving the amazing sort of help I was afforded.

    HI
I am looking for some information on my granddad. Edward n Addis who was a driver with the royal Signatories- service number 2350655. He was a prisoner of war and taken to Bergamo camp 62. During his time here he contracted TB. I was told that whilst he was being moved to another camp he escaped and got across the border into Switzerland where he stayed until the end of the war.
Any information about him or anyone he may have been with during this time would be much amazing.

    Phil,

To contact Fay go to the other thread Frank Slinn and send her a private message. I hope you won't be too late as she might already have requested a copy from the National Archives,

    Vitellino

Hi David. With regards the American, and when you have the time, you might want to contact my friend Dennis Hill via his website camp59survivors. He is American and has done great work tracking people down!
