This was posted in my inbox by mistake Hi All, I'm totally new to this site, so please be gentle. I'm seeking my late fathers' service record; he was a member of 3rd Battalion T.H.R (Rifle Brigade) which I understand became 5th Recce. I know he served in Nth Africa, Italy, and ended up in Europe at the end of the war. How do I find out his service number, and full details of his service records? I remember, as a kid in London, a copy of Wheeled Odyssey in the house, any ides as to how to obtain a copy nowadays. Dad's name was the same as mine, Peter Cleary. I live in the wilds of Tasmania, Australia, so seeking information can prove difficult at times. Any help would be much appreciated, Cheers, in advance. peter cleary, Today at 11:56 AM
New link for obtaining service records info pasted below. https://www.gov.uk/government/organi...to-information When you apply, make sure you ask for the FULL records. If you don't have the service number then put the date of birth on the form. Also the date when he died. Cost is 30 pounds. Cheers Paul
Hi there, Do you know if peter is still around. I think I am related to him, and have a couple of photos he may wish to see. Many thanks!
Hello Sandy and welcome. Peter hasn't been around since May 2017 when Paul Mitchell posted his query. I will send him a message alerting him to this thread-hopefully if he has the same e-mail address he will get an automatic message from the forum. Fingers crossed. Lesley
