Last week Lawrence and I embarked on our first Battlefield tour to explore the D-Day landing sites with Paul Reed. It was a terrific trip and as well as publishing a photo journal we recorded a couple of vlogs that I thought you might be interested in so I have included the links below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YPbH0QjBhM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itjwAyoc2f4 Photo Journal (Day One) Photo Journal (Day Two) Regards, Ross
Hi Ross I was following your progress of the tour on Paul's twitter feed Well done- it's always lovely to see accounts of other forum members visits to the battlefields. (And yes, you were in very good company with Paul Reed  ) Lesley
Thank you both, I'm delighted you enjoyed it. It was a great trip and having Paul Reed as our guide really was terrific. Ross
Thanks for posting the links, you managed to fit a lot into those two days. I must admit that I`ve been tempted by one of the Leger tours, the ability to hear the history when at a certain location would make a visit a lot more interesting. I`d have to leave the mrs at home so I could get some peace and quiet on the trip.
Thanks Chaps. Slick, I would highly recommend the tour, I usually prefer to travel alone rather than in a group but it turned out to be terrific and will certainly do it again.
Morning folks. The second Vlog from Normandy is now online if you fancy watching it. In this video we explore the American landing beaches and sites. By Air and Sea Regards, Ross
Cracking vid bud. I got down to Omaha very early one morning last week and the sea was lapping at the sea wall, I`m amazed at the rise and fall of the tides over there, must have made planning the invasion very difficult. I`m keeping a Leger tour in mind, in case I get a chance when the mrs is otherwise entertained for a few days.
Thanks Slick! Before visiting Omaha and seeing the tide out, did not quite realise just how far it was from the landing craft to the defences. It's pretty incredible how any of the soldiers managed to get off the beach.
