    Hi everyone,

on a recent (probably illegal!) walking trip around the legendary Peenemunde rocket research facility we found some aircraft wreckage on the beach just above the high tide mark. Various pieces of aircraft skin and parts. We found a piece of silver metal about 23 cm by 7cm with
FILTER CARBURETOR AIR SPECIFICATION NO AN - F - 30 ORDER NO MFRS PART NO 3 - 14697 AIR MAZE CORP TYPE (?) 81 - AS stamped on it. I have done some internet research. Its obviously American and Air Maze Corporation are still manufacturers air filters but they don't appear to have an email address or internet site. It's fairly safe to assume its WW2 era but it is not beyond the realms of fantasy to beleive it could be Cold War as Peenemunde was an active East German Air Force fighter base.

Can anyone help identify the aircraft type or details of the crew?

    Many thanks in advance,

    Simon
