So now I've been exposed as the parsimonious old git who irons and re-uses an old 'Haig Fund' poppy each year

To be honest, I really hadn't noticed. I do seem to recall that each collector's tray had just one or two with leaves - whether they were for the first few or for those who paid extra, I don't know.
