Any info on this lad and his flight details? Some have him buried at Rheinberg whereas I have a memorial headstone at Reichswald Forest. Hi Harry, I do have the names of (12) there. Only (3), Donald, Thompson & Buchanan if you mean headstone photos. Cheers Geoff Geoff, I have been doing a tally of your records against those of the CWGC. Unfortunately I have not photographed 4 from the total of 12 RAAF casualties tombstones here.I do not understand how that happened but had I known that the visit had been arranged,I would have done preparation. The ones yet to be photographed are as follows: F/S Sawtell F/S Thomson.Thompson? P/O Goldsmith F/S Tree I will post the collection on your running thread as this machine is on dial up and cannot handle the larger images. The past 150 years is reflected in this cemetery and is worth posting, covering the two Danish/German wars of the 19th century, the Great War and Second World War. Regards Harry
The CWGC have him down as believed buried at Reichswald , the headstone was not erected till 1997. The other 2 crew are buried at Rheinberg. May have been classed as unidentified airman until then. Luftwaffe claim by Lt Heinz Lange (October 2, 1917 – February 26, 2006), I. /JG21 flying a Messerschmitt Bf109D
Both Rheinburg and Reichswald are of course concentrated cemeteries laid down postwar. The Blenheim crew must have been initially interred local to where they met their deaths and an error may have been made in transferring P/O McCracken's remains...has occurred in the past.
