Taken in St Peters, Boughton Monchelsea just up the road from me. Doing a google search he was a 59sq Blenheim pilot of Coastal Command, believed shot down by a night fighter while attacking invasion barges. One thing I’ve not come across before is the award of a BofB clasp that was later revoked in 1960. Would anyone know why? My (uneducated) guess would be it was awarded in error possibly as Blenheim fighters were eligible?

It was qualifying service in Squadrons of Fighter Command that was eligible for the clasp.

No.59 had transferred to Coastal Command effective 26th June 1940.

Magic, cheers for that. Presumably it wasn’t an isolated case then and other members of the squadron would have been awarded it in error.
