Guys I've been following this restoration since the 90s but had not been to the website for a while. CHeck out the link especially down the bottom. Big and beautiful! Great to see a piece of WWII history being brought back to life. Wow! THE RESTORATION Cheers Andy
Purdy birdy! Glad to see at least one aircraft making progress. I had the newsletter from Vulcan to the Sky today. Notices have been served and the lady won't fly unless £1m is found in the next few days. A sad end for such a hopeful enterprise.
Just reading Ghost Soldiers by Hampton Sides...the Ranger raid to save POWs in the Philippines. The aerial distraction while the Rangers were crawling across the open fields towards the camp was a P-61. It is really well described and, according to the POWs who hadn't seen much of anything in the ways of new equipment in the previous three years, it looked like something out of Buck Rogers! Cheers Andy
Just awesome. My Dad, who was a radar observer on the Jing-Bow Joy-Ride, would have *loved* to see this. I can't wait to see more. If you haven't had a chance to visit his memoir at www.nightfighter.info, please do so -- great stories. He's got a lot of good descriptions about how the P-61 handled and the looks they got from day fighters who hadn't seen anything like a Black Widow.
