    June 2013: a poppy from a Rose.

This photograph shows a single poppy growing along a footpath adjacent to Rose Castle, Dalston, Cumbria (former residence of the Bishops of Carlisle).

Next year is the Commemoration of the outbreak of WWI and I just thought to myself, what a good idea if everyone bought a packet of Poppy seeds (or 2) from B&Q or wherever and scattered them in random places, ie: hedgerows, traffic roundabouts, empty back garden borders, planters etc. (not somewhere that is mown or tended to regularly by the Commissioners, for example. Then, this time next year, when they flower, we would all be looking at Poppy's in remembrance of those who fell during the 1914-1918 War. 'Like' this comment but , more importantly, SHARE it as I'd love it to go Global with this and get the whole planet involved in 'Plant A Poppy Day'

The RBL had their own brand of poppy seeds out for sale a few years back - if they are still available?

With the 11th of November almost upon us, I thought I'd give this thread an appropriate bump.

Adam is in charge of that , we've been doing it for years now so I assume will will continue with it at that time of year.
