Hello, I have heard that the original planned date for the Allie invasion of France was much earlier than the actual date, D-Day June 6 '44. I have not been able to find an actual reference to this. Does anyone know if this is true. If so, what were the originally planned dates for Operation Overlord? Many thanks for your time. Frank
Hi Frank, Without digging my books out (I'm cooking dinner) it was anticipated planned for a target date in May sometime back in 1943. When all the tides, anticipated weather conditions etc. were taken into consideration it was changed to the beginning of June at was delayed a Day due to weather conditions from Sunday* 5th June to Monday* 6th. * If my memory is right. Use the search engine or look through the North East Europe section. I posted all the original notes on this very subject earlier this year. Cheers Andy
