    Hello,
    I wonder if anyone can help me! I have obtained my Fathers service records and still have many questions. He was in the 592 Army Troop Company Royal Engineers and took part in the invasion of Sicily. I can find no record of this company and I have searched far and wide. I would love to know where his company landed and any information about his movement up through Italy ( He spent until Feb 1946 in Milan after the war had ended)
    His rank is complicated and listed as V/A/L/Cpl then P/A/L/Cpl
    then V/A/Cpl and P/A/L/Srgt and the W/Cpl and eventually L/Srgt
    Any help with these would be appreciated.
    Cheers

    Hi Rob,
    I think it should read U rather than V.

    U = Unpaid
    P = ?paid
    A = Acting
    W = War substantive

    Hope that helps a little
    Regards,
    Diane
