These photos on this link may have been posted before - however if not! There is quite an Australian RAAF flavour however hundreds of great and really clear photos nonetheless. Photos of Montgomery et al. Picasa Web Albums - http://palermoric... - Operazione Hu...
Looked at everyone of these images. Many that reminded me of the short campaign, particularly those that showed the dusty narrow roads through the small villages that were barely standing. The most evocative, for me anyway, and the one I've posted below, showed the way we embarked from North Africa. Many thanks for posting. One day, perhaps, I'll spot one that shows me Ah well....................... live in hope Ron
Well they have lifted these 2 photo's from my website, (photos 86 and 87 ) would have been nice to have been asked permission or at least a link or mention of where they are from.!!!
51highland Well said Sir !!!!!! One of my pet hates on the internet is the practice of , as in your case, of direct "lifting" of images from another source without due accreditation or/and failing to put a caption to an image. Can you now, strictly for members of this forum, identify the images you have just shown ? Best regards Ron ps I see that I mentioned this "no caption" business before http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/barracks/23415-impressive-ww2-photos-but-not-bloody-caption.html and here !!! http://www.ww2talk.com/forum/barracks/10308-does-drive-anyone-else-nuts.html
Well they have lifted these 2 photo's from my website, (photos 86 and 87 ) would have been nice to have been asked permission or at least a link or mention of where they are from.!!! Hi 51, There are a few (heaps) of those photos that have been taken from the Australian War Memorial site and quite a few others that looked familiar. I wonder whether they were lifted directly from your site or from someone else who had lifted them previously. I was looking for some info on a chap whose anniversary of death was the 28/3 (Hannaford) and came across this lot. As Ron said, there are quite a few "intimate" shots of the locals and the local area.
Hi Ron, Spidge, as Spidge has mentioned they may have been borrowed by someone else first but anyway, photo 86 is of my Father and 2 mates, (centre one a sniper) and the original is in my photo album and can be viewed here 5th battalion Queens Own Cameron Highlanders Keep 'em Moving page 6 The other was a copy e-mailed to me from ex Cameron Sid Standish, Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Keep 'em Moving page38 Just noticed another one, (photo 62 below) given to me, from Jack Galbraith. Here Queens Own Cameron Highlanders. Keep 'em Moving page37
51Highland That's the way to do it ! and congrats on your excellent website (links given above) . I've visited the site previously but failed to notice the pic that had been "borrowed". Regards Ron
