Having recently watched a Utube video on the above operation, which was a plot to murder Hitler, I wonder where the name, “Operation Foxley” came from.
    Does anyone have any idea?

    Thanks,

Hazel, it would have been a randomly picked name from a list of available codewords.
Other SOE German section operations from around that time included "Periwig", "Braddock", "Grog".

The idea is that the operational codeword reveals nothing about what it has been assigned to.

I see. Thanks Lee. I wondered simply because it is a family name and I have several relatives of the name who served in both the army, navy and SOE.
