Burning the midnight oil tonight I was watching a episode of The Last Days of WW2 and they mentioned the story of P-51 Mustangs and Mosquito's bombing of the Shellhouse (Gestapo Headquarters) in Copenhagen March 21, 1945.

One of the aircraft apparently hit a telegraph pole (I guess thats fairly low flying in a city) and crashed into the side of a local school. Unfortunately the second wave assumes that is the target and they bomb the school killing 80 something children and a significant amount of teachers.

One a brighter note the headquarters are detroyed too killing some 100 Gestapo.

A rather nice site with all the details:

Who needs smart bombs when you could have Mosquitos? Plus the appropriate 'humanware' inside? :)

A good site covering this daring raid. The gestapo actually sent the prisoners to the top floor in order to prevent the mosquitos from dropping the bombs on the location.

Here's a clip with actual footage: Dril Agenten v. 3
