    Thanks all,

I can open it but it's an unusual page with a lot of images and videos so maybe that's why there's been a lag there. Or maybe it's the set up on my comp, (I'm currently loading 30 posts to a page??? Is there a simple way on my comp i can shift this to say 10???) I'd say it was the only image heavy page + video bearing page I've had any problems with at all, so far, but it's a Bank Holiday Sunday so perhaps there is more than the usual level of internet use around the UK at the mo. :) It's a nice page though! With a lot of vids as well, Just unusually colourful and heavy in detail there.

(& it helps if I clear cache and close down superfluous programs like word, excel and powerpoint, adobe photoshop pro etc.) ;)

    All the best,

    Rm.

Pieter/Stolpi's threads are choc full of action/on the ground detail and very, very popular, with some nice contributions from other members as well. Happy to read you've discovered one of them but a tad perplexed that you've phrased your query in such a way as to warn folks off - before knowing what your problem is.

Without knowing your specs and set up, it sounds more like a connection problem at your end to me. (I've been experiencing bandwidth and intermittent connection problems locally here for months, but the page still loaded fine for me)

Can't ever recall anyone else reporting similar difficulties with that thread but if anyone does, you know where we can be reached.

The old forum software allowed for each member to edit view of forum by selecting the number of posts displayed on a page. I think on this software it's an Admin set-up across the whole forum - 30 posts per page? - and unlikely to be changed for the time being.

Thanks, I've modified the original query. I guess I was just surprised at how nice and detailed was that particular thread. ;)

    It's been very useful too.

I thought that I was doing something wrong in loading it up with 30 posts on a page - i guess there might be some local network issues too today, it's possible the local exchange is going through a process of maintenance or something over this weekend but it just affecting this one and wasn't affecting any of the other threads.

    All the best,

    Rm.

It is one of the 'heavier' threads on the site, but after you have read it you will understand why I said that - its one of Stolpi's attributes :salut:

I am working with Windows 7 and the thread loads OK.

I have to say that this is a wonderful thread to read.
